Ross Colton netted two goals, and Justus Annunen recorded 25 saves in his debut start, leading the Colorado Avalanche to a 4-1 victory over the winless San Jose Sharks. Colton secured a 2-0 lead for Colorado with both power-play and even-strength goals in the opening period. Although William Eklund narrowed the gap to 2-1 late in the first, Joel Kiviranta extended Colorado's advantage to 3-1 halfway through the third period, and Cale Makar capped it off with an empty-net goal. The Sharks, who had faced seven power play situations in each of their previous two games, once again had to defend against a 5-on-3 power play for the third consecutive match.
